Pocket Universe

Imagine a pocket universe—a parallel reality folded within our own, accessible not by science fiction but by a subtle shift in perspective. My current photographic exploration borrows from this concept: two simultaneous truths captured from a single scene.

In this project, I photograph tightly-packed architectural spaces—particularly the dense seams and walls of conjoined homes—using two lenses at once: a telephoto and a wide-angle. The telephoto lens compresses space, collapsing lines and forms until everything appears crushed, suffocating, impenetrable. In contrast, the wide-angle lens taken from the same position suddenly reveals hidden voids, air pockets, and gaps between structures. What once felt like a sealed, claustrophobic container is now porous and full of absence.

This series acts as both an independent body of work and a conceptual gateway into my next project: Pocket Universe
